Visual communication

Visual communication is communication through a visual aid and is described as the conveyance of ideas and information in forms that can be read or looked upon. Visual communication in part or whole relies on vision, and is primarily presented or expressed with two dimensional images, it includes:. signs, typography, drawing, graphic design, illustration, Industrial Design, Advertising, Animation colour and electronic resources It also explores the idea that a visual message  accompanying text has a greater power to inform, educate, or persuade a person or audience.

Overview
The evaluation of a good visual communication design is mainly based on measuring comprehension by the audience,  not on personal aesthetic and/or artistic preference as there are no universally agreed-upon principles of beauty and ugliness. Excluding two dimensional images, there are other ways to express information visually - gestures and body language, animation (digital or analogue), and film. Visual communication by e-mail , a textual medium, is commonly expressed with ASCII art , emoticons , and embedded digital images .

The Eye of Horus
The term 'visual presentation' is used to refer to the actual presentation of information through a visible medium such as text or images. Recent research in the field has focused on web design and graphically-oriented usability. Graphic designers also use methods of visual communication in their professional practice. Visual communication on the World Wide Web is perhaps the most important form of communication that takes place while users are surfing the Internet. When experiencing the web, one uses the eyes as the primary sense, and therefore the visual presentation of a website is very important for users to understand the message or of the communication taking place.

The Eye of Horus is often referred to as the symbol of visual communication. It is said to be a representation of an eclipse, as the corona around the pupil is like the corona around the sun during a solar eclipse.

Important figures
Aldous Huxley is highly regarded as one of the most prominent explorers of visual communication and sight-related theories.Becoming near-blind in his teen years as the result of an illness set the stage for what would make him one of the most intellectual people to have ever explored visual communication. His work includes important novels on the dehumanizing aspects of scientific progress, most famously Brave New World and The Art of Seeing . He described "seeing" as being the sum of sensing, selecting, and perceiving. One of his most famous quotes is "The more you see, the more you know."

Max Wertheimer is said to be the father of Gestalt psychology . Gestalt means form or shape in German, and the study of Gestalt Psychology show emphasis in simplicity, as its properties group visuals by similarity in shape or color and proximity. Looking for continuation, closure, and figure-ground principles in studied images is also intensively taught.

Study of visual communication
Students studying visual communication are taught the basic physics of light, anatomy and physiology of the eye, cognitive and perception theories, color theories, Gestalt psychology , aesthetics, natural reading patterns, design principles, semiotics , persuasion, camera/filming actions and image-types, and so forth. Colleges for visual communications differ in their approach, but most combine theory and practice in some form.

Visual communication takes place through pictures , graphs and charts , as well as through signs , signals and symbols . It may be used either independently or as an adjunct to the other methods of communication.

Image analysis
Visual communication contains image aspects. The interpretation of images is subjective and to understand the depth of meaning, or multiple meanings, communicated in an image requires analysis.

The Visual Communication Design program educates and trains designers for the communication needs of industry and society. Emphasis is placed on the conception, creation, planning and realization of visual solutions to complex problems in contemporary culture. Students integrate methodology, prototyping, aesthetics, human factors, technology, materials, context and audience to develop strategies and solutions that give form to print, screen and the built environment. Faculty emphasize the objectives of design rather than the process of production, and encourage innovative visual ideas that inform, interpret, instruct or persuade the intended user across the spectrum of application.
The success of the program is evidenced by the receipt of numerous national and international student design awards/scholarships as well as significant publications. Three international design journals, Novum (Germany), IDEA (Japan), and Art and Design (China) have produced major articles on design education featuring the University of Washington program of Visual Communication Design.
Visual Communication Design is one of the largest undergraduate programs in the School of Art. It has evolved over the past 20 years into a professional program primarily aimed at visual communication in the corporate, institutional and municipal sectors. It is an intensive program emphasizing visual problem solving, organizational skills, and information theory. The curriculum includes all phases of typography, information design, design systems, exhibition design, publication design, new media, and visual methods/processes.

Nike is the world's leading sporting goods manufacturer, headquartered in Oregon, producing all-inclusive sporting goods: clothing, footwear, sports equipment and so on. Nike trademark logo is a small hook.

Vision
Why is this so important symbol for Nike's corporate culture? Reason is that it's ancient wisdom and the United States "just do it" (Just Do It) are inseparable. Nike does not sell shoes, it sold a way of life, which is the key to its success. The logo for inspiring and energetic and determination behind this philosophy is that everyone concerned with, whether you are not athletes. Nike use one kind of inspirational style of language to motivate consumers. No matter who you are, what your hair or skin color is, you suffered physical or social life, what limitations, Nike convince consumers that you can do. It tells people to pull ourselves together, grasp the steering wheel of life, and to take action. In the "just do it" ad behind, is a very American-style ideology; However, with the progress of globalization, the original ideology of what the United States, became a common desire around the world, eager to there is a level playing field, allowing people not only in sports but in every aspect of life are a short length of contention. This can be traced back to early American pioneer spirit, and their desire for success. Nike is undoubtedly the great American dream of global marketing and promotion of their work ethic; Nike tells its customers, if you are determined, unremitting struggle, you will surpass others, to conquer everything. Borrowed by such methods, namely the use of people's fervent desire for success, Nike has also created its own kind of personality and attitude. Through clever use of a very simple ad punch line, it succeeded in an attitude toward life into the commodities they sell.

Meaning/value
NIKE this name, in the eye of the West was very lucky, and easy to read and easy to remember, can be called very loud. Nike trademark symbolizes the Greek goddess of victory wings of feathers, representing the speed, but also represents the dynamic and gentle. Nike Nike's trademark, is a small hook patterns, modelling simple and powerful, urgent, such as lightning, to see people think of using speed and explosiveness after the Nike sports goods produced. For the first time to "Nike" name sports shoes, soles square convex tablets to enhance the stability, both sides of the body of the shoe has a knife-shaped curved hook, a symbol of the goddess of the wings.
Competitors example
Nike's dominance in the victory over a strong opponent after another established.

Food to eat in "Mantin."

Due to its demographic, Mantin was famous for traditional Hakka food.

If you want to find the "signature" Mantin food, you got to go Old Mantin. Old Mantin prepares and serves traditional Chinese rice pudding.

If you are fan for stuff tofu (Yong Tofu, 酿豆腐), Old Mantin serves the most authentic Hakka Yong Tau Fu there. Usually you will see a lot of flour in the stuff, but here, it is real meat!

The most famous Yong Tau Foo vendor has lost its glory after the demolition of the old theater, which was next to its original shop. The vendor now operates at the Mantin Hawker Center which is located on the main street.

Favorite Dish: Chinese Rice Pudding - Xian Cha Guo, or Woon Chai Kou (碗仔糕), Put Chai Kou (缽仔糕), Chwee Kuey (水粿),or Chai Tao Kuey (菜頭粿). Rice pudding was originally a dessert found in the regions of Guangdong and Xiamen. It was brought to Malay Peninsular when the Southern Chinese migrated here. As the time went by, many traditional desserts were not passed down and disappeared along the way.

Old Mantin inherits the authentic rice pudding recipe and method of preparation. It gives us the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful traditional dessert.

Mantin

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mantin is a town in Negeri SembilanMalaysia. It is under administration of Nilai District. It lies along the main road connecting Kajangand Seremban.

Origin of the name "Mantin."

In the early days, Mantin was well known because of tin mining business by a Chinese towkay (business owner) named Kong Sang. Due to plenty of tin, the Europeans called the place Mine Tin for at this place tin (lombong timah). However, the locals could not pronounce Mine Tin correctly. Instead, they called the place Mantin.

Finished Product from Tin.

The earliest account of Mantin was related to Kapitan Seng Ming Lee (甲必单盛明利), the first Chinese chief who as killed in 1860 in a war between Chinese secret societies (Hai San and Ghee Hin) near Sungei Ujong (presently Seremban).[2] His descendents fled to Mantin. Today (as of February 2009) the great-grand children of Kapitan Seng still live in Mantin.

Situated in a valley surrounded by hills, Mantin has been a favorite sanctuary and hiding place for war and crime refugees. In addition to Kapitan Seng Ming Lee's descendants, large groups of Hakka were said to have migrated here, especially from Titi, during Japanese occupation of Malaya during 1943.[3]

Economic Transformation of  "Mantin."

Until 1903, the geographical location of Mantin in a valley has made it inaccessible to mainstream transportation. A railroad from Kuala Lumpur to Seremban was completed in 1903.[4] The railroad passes through Batang Benar town, thus providing an access point at the western side of the town. At that time, British miners brought in large numbers of dredgers into Mantin, bringing about an economic boom.

Following the completion of the railway connecting Seremban and Kajang in 1903 which made the export of tin economical, Mantin became a town. The town attracted a large number of Chinese migrants, mainly Hakka, for the tin mining business. Mantin was the center of tin mining business of Negeri Sembilan in the early 20th century.

Get around "Mantin."

Mantin is a small town and there is just one main street (Jalan Besar) so it is unlikely, if not impossible, to get lost. If lost, just ask around for direction.

Be sure to look left and right before crossing any street, especially the main street. Like other small towns in Malaysia, motorcycles like to ride against traffic on the same lane for their own convenience and laziness.

Jalan Besar - Also known as the main street.
It is where most of the attractions and historical buildings are located.
